The story: Enamel is a decorative technique that involves fusing glass powder onto a metal surface at high temperatures, creating a smooth, durable, and often colored finish. This process dates back millennia and has been used in various cultures, from ancient Egypt to Art Nouveau in Europe. The enamel is applied in layers and fired in a kiln at temperatures between 750 and 850 °C, allowing it to bond to the metal. Different techniques, such as cloisonné, champlevé or plique-à-jour, offer unique visual effects. Appreciated in jewelry for its vibrant hues, refined patterns, and ability to bring artistic depth, enamel is often used on metals such as gold, silver, or copper.
