The story: Egyptian cartouches were used in the art and writing of ancient Egypt to frame the names of pharaohs or high-ranking individuals. They symbolized eternity and the importance of the person whose name was inscribed inside. Here, the vulture evokes the goddess Nekhbet, protector of the rulers of Egypt, while the lower bird, close to the falcon of Horus, symbolizes divine power and heavenly protection. The eye is associated with vigilance and preservation, while the feather recalls Ma’at, goddess of truth, harmony and justice. The whole composes a symbol of protection, balance and wisdom.
