The story: The river of diamonds appeared in the eighteenth century in the European royal courts, where it seduced with its refined elegance. Very popular in France, it is one of the favorite jewels of Marie-Antoinette, who was fond of creations that highlighted the brilliance of diamonds. Having become a great classic of jewellery in the nineteenth century, the river has crossed the ages without ever losing its refinement. From the end of the 1970s, it acquired a new reputation in the United States. At the US Open in New York, American player Chris Evert interrupted a match after losing her diamond bracelet. This episode helped popularize the name “tennis bracelet”, which is now used around the world.
