Obsidian is a rock created from natural volcanic glass, resulting from the rapid solidification of lava, thus preventing the crystallization of minerals. Its name derives from Obsius, a Roman who brought the first piece of Obsidian from Ethiopia to Rome. Obsidian arrowheads, dating back more than 8,000 years, have been discovered by archaeologists at archaeological sites in Anatolia, Turkey. This black stone with metallic reflections has been considered a protective stone for centuries. Its deep hue also symbolizes balance and stability.
