The story: Appearing in the nineteenth century, the garter ring is recognizable by its wide and structured setting, often composed of a horizontal row of identical precious stones, underlined by a precise and regular setting. Its name evokes the ribbon of fabric that held the garters together, suggesting support, elegance and intimacy at the same time. A symbol of commitment and prosperity, it was traditionally given to celebrate a milestone event such as an engagement or a major anniversary.
