Gold and diamond pendant “Yvara”

Description

Elegant pendant from the 50s in 18-carat gold formed of a rectangle with curved borders open in an oval shape and worked in a fan pattern. On the lower inner edge is set a small 0.1-carat brilliant-cut diamond in a prong setting. Held in place by a fixed bail, this fine pendant catches the light with its shimmering border as well as its sparkling diamond.

The story: 18-carat gold is characterized by the presence of 750 grams of gold for every 1000 grams of precious metal. Silver, copper and palladium complete this alloy in different proportions depending on the desired color. This ratio, which has become the standard for gold jewellery in France, allows for a perfect balance between the malleability of the material, which can thus be worked on sophisticated patterns, and resistance. Once cooled, the jewel is more resistant than a 24-carat gold jewel, less flexible and less prone to scratches.
