The Story: the so-called “Bonaparte” period jewelry is jewelry from the end of the nineteenth century characterized by the recurrence of certain distinctive motifs: pink gold used as a base and contrasting with yellow and white gold, the chiseling of gold in volutes or arabesques, the engraving of plant motifs and, rose-cut diamonds and fine pearls. Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III, was particularly fond of them and they can be found in many pieces of jewelry of the time, including pendants, medallions, rings and sleeper earrings.
