The story: Amethyst is symbolically linked to love because Saint Valentine of Terni, patron saint of lovers, wore an amethyst around his neck. It is for this reason that amethyst is the birthstone of the month of February. Peridot is the stone of the month of August and is known for its beautiful green hue and soothing properties. Used since ancient times, peridot was prized by the Egyptians who extracted it from the islands of the Red Sea and called it “the stone of the sun”. Diamond, the stone of the month of April, is known for its unequalled resistance (hardness of 10 out of 10 on the Mohs scale) and its association with eternal love.
