This unique piece had a previous life in France.
The story: Portrait jewelry, born during the Renaissance, reached its peak in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, before declining with the advent of photography in the nineteenth century. These pieces, made on vellum, ivory, porcelain or enamel, often represent royal, aristocratic or personal figures, especially in mourning or sentimental jewelry. Mounted in gold, silver or platinum, these miniatures protected under glass bear witness to a refined and universal art that has survived the centuries.
