Description

Sublime drapery-style necklace from the Napoleon III period in 18 carat gold set with fine pearls. The necklace has a succession of floral motifs, including three set with a fine pearl and the central pattern encircling a brilliant-cut diamond of 0.1 carat. The diamond, with its modern brilliant cut that brings an exceptional fire, tells us that it was added later. The original stone was most likely an old-cut diamond.

The story: The drapery necklace is characterized by its gold motifs inspired by nature or elaborated in filigree. Each drapery necklace was a work of art in itself, showcasing the expertise and know-how of the jewelers of the time. Consecrated during the Art Nouveau period (1880-1914) with filigree motifs, it comes in its first forms from the beginning of the 19th century and more precisely during the Napoleon III period (1808-1873), as seen here with this floral version decorated with fine pearls and a diamond, characteristic elements of the jewels of the period. A precious and refined piece with a flexibility that gives it a style as sophisticated as casual.
