The story: The origin of the hand of fatma dates back to the time of the Phoenicians (1200 to 300 BC). The latter associated her with the Berber goddess Tanit, patron saint of Carthage. Since then, each culture or religion (Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, etc.) has taken up its positive universal meaning and adapted it to its own sacred history. Among Arabs and Berbers, it is a reference to the daughter of Muhammad and represents protection against the evil eye. In the Jewish religion, it refers to the many symbolisms of the number 5 and is synonymous with divine power. In the Christian religion, it is a symbol of fertility and blessing, and its use to ward off evil comes from ancient times. In many North Africa countries, it is used as a symbol of protection, especially on the facades of houses. In the Hindu and Buddhist tradition, it is a representation of the 5 flows of energy that flow through the chakras in the human body, to the five senses and their associated postures and gestures (mudras). Finally, in jewelry, Fatma’s hand is synonymous with luck, a protective talisman to accompany you on a daily basis.
