Description
Sublime Toi et Moi ring from the beginning of the twentieth century in 18 carat yellow gold representing two snakes entwined, their crowns respectively set with a garnet, both in round brilliant cuts of 0.2 carats, the facets faded by time for a cabochon effect. A highly symbolic piece where the vibrant blue and red of the two gems contrast with the warmth of the gold.

The story: This ring brings together a multitude of symbols: the Toi et Moi ring, the meaning of red tourmaline, and of course, that of the serpent. The first famous Toi et Moi ring was the one offered by Napoleon Bonaparte to Joséphine de Beauharnais as an engagement ring. Since then, this style has become a timeless classic, symbolizing two hearts ready to unite forever. The symbolism of the ring can be personalized depending on the stones paired together: here, the tourmaline, which represents sincere and warm love and is said to encourage emotional communication. The serpent, for its part, is a powerful symbol in many cultures, dating back to Antiquity. It has long been associated with eternal youth and renewal, due to its continuous shedding of skin. In India and South Asia, it is also linked to abundance and, by extension, fertility.
