This unique piece had a previous life in France.
The story: Often confused with ruby and sapphire in the past, spinel has long adorned royal jewels thanks to its brilliance and beautiful hardness. Its palette, from deep red to luminous white, makes it a gemstone that has been appreciated for centuries. In the twentieth century, the creation of white spinel by the Verneuil process offered a refined alternative to diamonds: clear, brilliant and highly prized in French jewelry in the 1930s and 1960s. Used in many gold settings, it embodies the understated elegance and gemological innovation of its time.
