Description

Sumptuous ring from the laye Art Deco / 1930’s in 18-carat gold formed by a sublime 0.5-carat oval-cut indigo blue sapphire in a prong setting haloed with 15 diamonds of 0.01 carat in grain setting on white gold. This contrasting motif is centred on a gadrooned ring with a line of 4 calibrated sapphires on either side. A piece of jewelry that captures the light and the eye as much by its magnificent play of contrasts as by the details of its design.

The story: Jewelry from the Art Deco era, particularly in the 1920s and 1930s, is characterized by a graphic and structured aesthetic, where balance and symmetry play a central role. Compositions often feature a central stone highlighted by an entourage of small white stones, usually old-cut diamonds, intended to accentuate luminosity and contrast. The shoulders and lines of the jewel are frequently punctuated by calibrated, custom-cut stones — emeralds, sapphires or black enamel — creating clean and elegant linear patterns. The combination of black and white with a coloured stone, as well as the geometric work of the metal, reflect the modern spirit of Art Deco, a style where the rigour of forms is combined with an assertive jewellery refinement.
