Amber

Amber is one of the few materials on earth considered a precious stone without being of mineral origin, like jet. The amber used in jewelry is indeed a fossilized plant resin that has become an organic stone.
The name of the stone comes from the Arabic “al ambar” which originally designates ambergris and describes a fossilized resin which has become a stone under the natural effect of high pressure and heat.
The yellow color of this gem earned it a close association with the sun and the god Apollo. Having passed through the millennia, it is has also become a warranted symbol of eternity.
