Garnet

Although it is associated with the color red, garnet actually exist in a multitude of colors ranging from red to blue and green. Nevertheless, it is the red color that earns it its name, taken from the Latin “granatium” designating the bright red fruit that is the pomegranate.
Garnet is one of the most widely used gemstones in jewelry. Traces of its use date back to antiquity, from Egypt where the Pharaohs wore necklaces set with garnets, to Rome, where they were used to make seals. According to many beliefs, garnet symbolizes fidelity and truth. Just like ruby, its blood red color also makes it associated with bravery, vitality and passion.
