Description

This beautiful marquise ring from the 19th century combines old-cut diamonds with a garnet cabochon on an 18-carat yellow gold band. The central stone you see is not from origin: the original one being broken, our jeweler replaced it with a gorgeous custom cut garnet cabochon of 2,5 carats in a bezel setting. This sublime grenadine-colored stone showcases a faint cloud with opalescent reflections.

This unique piece had a previous life in France.

The story: The Marquise ring is a type of oblong-shaped ring of French creation. It is characterized by a central gemstone haloed with smaller stones, most often diamonds. This unique and sophisticated ring was inspired by the Marquise de Pompadour, mistress of King Louis XV of France. According to legend, the king had a ring created inspired by Madame de Pompadour’s smile.
