The Story: Taking its name from the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, the Art Deco movement is distinguished by its geometric designs inspired by industry (no screws, nuts, gears). White gold, platinum, chrome and silver became the emblematic metals of this modern and industrial aesthetic. Yellow gold, once dominant in jewelry, is then relegated to the background, although it is sometimes mixed with white gold to create sophisticated contrasts. It was also a period of transition in stone styles: although modern cuts were gradually taking hold, rose-cut diamonds, inherited from previous centuries, continued to be used, bringing a touch of softness to this resolutely graphic era.
