Description

Sublime early 20th century marquise ring in 18-carat gold paved with 17 small diamonds from 0.01 to 0.02 carats in grain setting on a white gold shuttle motif, supported by two leaf motifs each set with a 0.01-carat brilliant-cut diamond. Mounted on a grooved yellow gold band, the white and luminous navette contrasts nicely with the warmth of the yellow gold. A classic piece of the antique jewelry repertoire, highly symbolic and appreciated for the elongating effect it brings to the finger.

The story: The Marquise ring is a type of oblong ring created in France. It is characterized by a central gemstone haloed with smaller stones, most often diamonds.
This unique and sophisticated ring was inspired by the Marquise de Pompadour, mistress of King Louis XV of France. According to legend, the king had a ring created inspired by the smile of Madame de Pompadour.
