Description

Stunning late Art Deco, early retro period (40s) tank style tank style ring in 18k gold. Worked according to a gadrooned motif, it is set with an old cushion-cut diamond of 0.08 carat highlighted by a bezel setting in white gold. A piece of timeless elegance and assertive character, combining the softness of curves with the rigour of right angles.
Size: FR 51/ UK L / US 5.75
Weight: 2.11g
This unique piece had a previous life in France.
The story: Emblematic of the 40s, tank rings were born in a European context marked by war and restrictions. Platinum, requisitioned for the military effort, almost entirely disappeared from jewelry, giving rise to the use of a warmer, more coppery yellow gold. Gold then became a safe haven, often remelted into solid and wearable jewelry. These rings are distinguished by their generous volumes, their architectural lines and their reliefs reminiscent of the tracks of tanks. This ring, with its rounded shapes, offers a clever mix of the art deco style and the tank ring.
