Gold and fine pearl pendant “Ophelia”

This new TransfÓ or transformation signed ÓNÍSÌ PARIS is an antique brooch from the nineteenth century transformed into an 18-carat gold pendant. The latter is formed by a baguette holding in its center 22 fine pearls forming a line. Finished on both sides by a gadrooned motif, this unique pendant is held in place by a mobile bail. A finely crafted piece where the warm and shimmering gold contrasts with the whiteness of the pearl.

The story: Heir to the fibulae of Antiquity, used to hold clothes, the brooch became over the centuries a real ornamental jewel. Particularly appreciated in the nineteenth century and during the Belle Époque, it came in a multitude of motifs, from flowers to animals and symbolic shapes, and was adorned with precious stones or pearls, much sought after for their delicate brilliance. Worn on the bodice, collar or shawl, it testifies as much to the fashions of its time as to the personality of the woman who wears it. This old horizontal brooch adorned with a line of pearls, now transformed into a vertical pendant, begins a new life while preserving the elegance and history of its original creation.
