Gold and pearl pendant earrings “Athenaïs”

$512

unique piece, 1 item available

Description

This sublime pair of early twentieth-century pendant earrings in 18-carat gold is composed of a circular stud in shimmering gold holding an articulated element with an openwork design. The latter is composed of intertwined drop shapes framing a central line punctuated by fine pearls, while small gold beads punctuate and complete the composition. Secured by a precious Alpa or Belgian clasp system, this refined piece with shimmering gold moving elements will beautifully illuminate the movements of the face. Note that one of the earrings has recesses on its reverse on the upper part of the first drop; they are invisible from the front and do not threaten the durability of the jewel.

The story: Among the most elegant and timeless models, dangling earrings — or “pendants” — are distinguished by their elongated silhouette and delicate movement. Appearing in ancient times, this style was prized in many civilizations, from Mesopotamia to ancient India, often worn as a symbol of status, wealth or spiritual protection. Long associated with royal pageantry and special occasions, pendants have survived the centuries to become a must-have in modern jewelry. Refined or bold, they gracefully accompany all expressions of style, without distinction of gender.
