The story: diamonds help us define the era of antique jewelry, as their cut has evolved over time. From the hand carved rose-cut diamonds of the XVIth to the old-cut diamonds of the XIX to the modern 58-faceted brilliant cut diamond, laser cut for optimal light reflection, the diamond can betray the age of jewelry. That being said, this ring from the 40s features two different diamond cuts, revealing that its central diamond was later replaced.
