This unique piece had a previous life in France.

The story: The Marquise ring is a type of oblong-shaped ring of French creation. It is characterized by a central gemstone haloed with smaller stones, most often diamonds. This unique and sophisticated ring was inspired by the Marquise de Pompadour, mistress of King Louis XV of France. According to legend, the king had a ring created inspired by Madame de Pompadour’s smile. More recently, Kate Middleton was offered a Marquise ring by Prince William in 2010. The sapphire on white gold and haloed with diamonds was none other than that of Princess Diana offered by Prince Charles for their engagement in 1981. Since then, this specific design of Marquise has been extremely popular in jewelry, especially as an engagement ring.
