Elegant pair of Napoleon III era earrings (“dormeuses” or sleepers) in 18 carat gold. These earrings are sisters but not twins! Similar yet different, “Augustine and Apolline” are set with fine pearls in the shape of rosettes. One is decorated with a straight rosette motif while the other is adorned with a curved rosette.

The story: In the nineteenth century, most women owned a small pair of earrings called “sleepers” because they could be worn to bed without risk of damaging them.
