The story: This ring has several features of the 50’s period: the 18-carat gold gadroon pattern, the cocktail design itself and an amethyst. It is not the amethyst itself that is a characteristic element of the ring but its vibrant color that catches the eye, which is characteristic of cocktail rings. The latter were indeed intended to be noticed on the fingers of the Flappers Girls who proudly wore them in the speakasies during prohibition. The hand that held their cocktail of choice highlighted these rings whose style totally denoted compared to traditional engagement rings, thus reflecting their status as singles.
